THE world's leaders of education and academics will gather in Dubai with government ministers and business leaders from more than 70 countries to discuss the role of higher education and skills in developing global knowledge economies The upcoming “Going Global 2013” conference that will be held on March 4-6, 2013 in Dubai, will launch five new pieces of major research. The launches will include a report mapping the development of cross-border education and research on the economic value of international skills. This year's theme is Global Education: Knowledge-based Economies for 21st century Nations” and the program is built around three strands: Research and innovation - the role of international collaboration; Developing skilled knowledge workers: the role of international collaboration; and Internationalizing tertiary education structures and systems. Richard Cotton, the British Council's director in UAE, said: “I believe that the rapidly transforming Middle East, North African and south Asian regions Dubai is an excellent location for this meeting of global education leaders.” — SG
