After a Health Ministry official helped expose a bribery attempt King Abdullah, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and Crown Prince Sultan ordered the official be rewarded financially for his honesty, the Saudi Press Agency reported. The Minister of Health said a representative of a national company was arrested in an ambush by the Administration Investigative Department while attempting to bribe a Health Ministry official Bandar Al-Shareef. Minister of Health Dr. Hamad Al-Mane' said the bribe was intended to lift penalties imposed on the unnamed company for failing to commit to a contract signed between the company and the Ministry. The Minister said the announcement made at a press conference was a warning to companies who indulged in similar activities. Previously a bribe of SR1million was turned down by another Ministry official, Dr. Abdul Aziz Niyaz and the King rewarded him with SR1million and the King Abdul Aziz Medal. He also said the Ministry is following several administration corruption cases and intends to eradicate any unlawful behavior.
