LONDON — West Ham United moved level on points with sixth-placed Arsenal after being held to a 1-1 draw at home to Stoke City in a dour Premier league clash at Upton Park Monday. Jonathan Walters put the visitors in front after 13 minutes when he finished off a training ground routine from a corner by losing his marker and firing in at the near post from 10 meters. Steven Nzonzi hit the bar for Stoke with a rasping drive from distance seven minutes from halftime but West Ham equalized three minutes after the break when Joey O'Brien scored his first Premier League goal by turning in Gary O'Neil's low cross. West Ham's fine start to the season sees it on 19 points from 12 games, nine behind leader Manchester City, while Stoke is in 14th place with 13 points, four above the drop zone. Roma beats Torino 2-0 Roma needed two late goals to beat visiting Torino 2-0 Monday and bounce back from its derby loss to Lazio. Pablo Osvaldo converted a penalty in the 71st minute after the goal-line referee intervened to overturn the initial decision by the main match official. Miralem Pjanic doubled the lead in the 86th with a shot from the edge of the area that deflected in off a defender. Torino coach Giampiero Ventura was sent off shortly after the penalty for excessive protesting. Roma moved into sixth place, 12 points behind Serie A leader Juventus. Torino remained three points clear of the relegation zone. The match was held Monday because the Stadio Olimpico was used for Italy's rugby test with New Zealand Saturday. Roma lost the derby 3-2 eight days ago. Clattenburg out again Referee Mark Clattenburg will miss a fourth successive weekend of Premier League action as the Football Association continues an investigation into ‘racism' allegations against the official. Chelsea complained to the FA the referee used a term understood to have been interpreted as racist toward Nigeria international John Obi Mikel during the 3-2 Premier League defeat by Manchester United on Oct. 28. It is understood Clattenburg, who denies the accusations against him, does not want to take charge of any matches until the FA has resolved the matter. — Agencies
