MUMBAI — Actor Emran Hashmi's movies may not be blockbusters, but his music tracks are surefire chartbusters. Oscar-winning film director Danis Tanovic is banking on Hashmi's musical success, deciding to have a song by Hashmi in his next yet-to-be-titled movie. This is the first time a mainstream Hollywood film featuring an Indian face in the lead will sing a Hindi-English number onscreen. A source close to Tanovic said that the director signed Hashmi after watching several of his films, according to ndtv.com. It has been an unofficial record that the actor's songs have done very well. “The director has been well aware of this and so wants to make it as commercial as possible without losing the essence of the film,” the source added. – SG
