Police in Jeddah have put off investigating a Syrian woman who had allegedly drowned her own daughter in a bathtub. Police sources said that they will commence their investigation after the unidentified 25-year-old woman has been psychologically evaluated. The three-year-old girl, only identified as Lujain, had been found drowned in the bathtub in her family's home on Saturday. Her father found her some four hours after she had died, the source said. He called the police and waited with his daughter's dead body at a nearby tailor's shop. The father told the police his wife had been suffering some psychological problems, which may have caused her to kill her daughter. “We have not yet started the investigation,” said Colonel Misfer Al-Juaid, spokesman for the Jeddah Police Department. “We are still waiting until the mother has been psychologically evaluated so we can make some progress.” Juaid said the mother was found to be very calm, and that she gave herself up to the police without any resistance. “The father called the police as soon as he arrived home and found his daughter,” said the spokesman. “That was about four hours after her death, so during these four hours the mother did not do anything about it.” Another child of the family's has been handed over to the father's family under the supervision of police in northern Jeddah, said Juaid. __
