NO one will accept five-year-old Lama was killed by her father, whatever the degree of torture involved. No one will accept letting the one who killed her or any other human being go unpunished. Nobody will accept what happens following incidents of violence against children, women and students. It is important to activate the Family Safety Program by using a female specialist who can strive to implement the program effectively and curb the torture of women and children. I have the conviction that we have so far not agreed to deliver the National Family Safety Program file to qualified social specialists who are serious in implementing it. We still rely on the endeavors of a female doctor for contagious diseases who does not have any experience and qualifications in the field of social care. Another significant aspect in the murder of Lama was that the focus of the news and televised reports, particularly the special report aired by Al-Arabiya television on Sunday, was on introducing the killer father as a preacher. Such reports might be offensive to real preachers who are qualified in various aspects of knowledge, behavior and intellect, especially when the reports were not revealing the name of the preacher. So this could be offensive on the one hand. On the other hand, there is an important question. On what basis was the murderer classified as a preacher even though he preached one or 10 times on television programs? This issue is neglected. Some of us give the titles such as sheikh, preacher, sublime figure, and Shariah scholar when they wish and take them away on the same whim. In any case, he did not kill his daughter simply because he is a preacher. But what he did — in case he was found guilty— is a horrific thing that is far removed from the qualities of a preacher who is supposedly well versed in the teachings of the tolerant religion of Islam, which is based on compassion and self-protection. Then, there is another important matter that was ignored by those who describe the killer as a preacher. This was evident from the teachings of the Prophet (peace be upon him). Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported the Prophet (pbuh) as saying: “No adulterer will commit adultery while he is a believer and no thief will commit stealing while he is a believer...” Any quality required for the perfection of faith is not in those who commit these sins. In this case, how can we call one who kills his daughter a preacher?
