RIM will launch its BlackBerry 10 platform on January 30. The first two smartphones powered by the new OS will also be unveiled on that date. BlackBerry 10 will include the BlackBerry Flow user experience “that is unlike any smartphone on the market today," according to RIM president and CEO Thorsten Heins, as well as a range of apps for consumers and business users. The BlackBerry 10 platform has recently achieved FIPS 140-2 certification, which means that US government agencies will be able to deploy BlackBerry 10 smartphones and BlackBerry Enterprise Service 10 as soon as it is available. This is important in RIM's attempt to stage a comeback. In addition, RIM recently announced that BlackBerry 10 smartphones have now entered more than 50 carrier labs with many more entries expected in the coming weeks.
