Saudi female teachers are demanding the same pay and benefits as of their male colleagues. They allege that the difference in pay reaches up to SR4,800. The teachers have launched a campaign titled “Humanitarian campaign for justice for the rights of female teachers,” filed their complaint to the Shoura Council, the National Society for Human Rights and the Human Rights Commission. In addition to the differences in salaries, they said when a male teachers dies, their inheritors receive the pension but for female teachers the pension is stopped after death. Umm Yazan chairperson of the Information Committee for the campaign said they are launching an educational forum to address the rights of male and female teachers, connect teachers with officials and highlight the issues which hinder educational growth. - Okaz __
