Saudi Telecom Company (STC) on Monday launched for the first time in the Kingdom 16 and 20 Mbps bandwidth DSL Internet connections, which are available for customers with advanced devices to offer superior internet connectivity. This initiative comes in line with STC's strategy to bring the best technology to the Kingdom and further positions it as a pioneer in bringing modern communication and information technologies and solutions. STC said it will continue to develop its infrastructure with the most sophisticated fiber Multi Services Access Network (MSAN) to allow STC customers to fully make use of the technology, in addition to web fast browsing, diverse Internet applications, such as online gaming and television over Internet service, in which a viewer can compile program according to his tastes. STC said the new service is a reiteration of the success followed the introduction of 8 and 10 Mbps connections, and is part of its continuous approach to deliver the best internet connectivity services, presented by “Afaq” and “Afaq Shamel” DSL services, of which total subscribers have reached more than 850,000 to date. The company expects to reach 1,000,000 subscribers by the end of 2008. Following heavy investment in the infrastructure, STC is committed to providing customers with integrated services and value-based connectivity packages and offers, such as “Afaq DSL with Modem,” which enables customers to access Internet service around the clock via comprehensive package of the Afaq DSL line. This modem provides high quality specifications using the latest technologies fro Huawei and Siemens, in addition to an examiner program to simplify the activation process of the service and connecting the modem using sound and video.
