Dortmund, Schalke drop points
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 04 - 11 - 2012

BERLIN — Borussia Dortmund and Schalke dropped points in the Bundesliga, giving Bayern Munich the chance to extend its lead at Hamburger SV later Saturday.
Defending champion Dortmund twice hit the crossbar and had to settle for a 0-0 draw against visiting Stuttgart, while Schalke lost 3-2 at Hoffenheim.
Kevin Schipplock's last-minute winning goal for Hoffenheim gave former Germany goalkeeper Tim Wiese his first win at the club since joining from Werder Bremen in the offseason. Borussia Moenchengladbach drew 1-1 with Freiburg, Hannover beat Augsburg 2-0, and Timo Gebhart ended Nuremberg's six-game run without a win when he gave his side a 1-0 victory over Wolfsburg.
On Friday, Eintracht Frankfurt goalkeeper Kevin Trapp made a string of saves to salvage a 1-1 draw at home to Greuther Fuerth.
Frankfurt got off to a great start when Alexander Meier opened the scoring in the first minute. Fuerth goalkeeper Max Gruen cut out Sebastian Rode's cross, but the rebound fell to Meier, who sidestepped three defenders before dispatching his shot across goal and inside the far post.
Fuerth equalized on a counterattack in the 53rd minute, when Zoltan Stieber coolly lifted the ball over Trapp to score.
The goal gave the visitors confidence to push forward, and Frankfurt had Trapp to thank for maintaining the team's unbeaten record at home so far this season.
