Abed Khazindar Al-Riyadh newspaper THE Ministry of Labor has committed to employing scholarship students abroad within 90 days of their graduation as part of its Jahez (Ready) program. A ministry source said it has begun coordinating with the Ministry of Higher Education, the Human Resources Development Fund and the private sector to launch Jahez. The source said work has started on creating a website to register graduates before they return home. First of all, we have not seen much benefit from the two programs, Jahez and Hafiz, launched by the ministry so far. The ranks of unemployed continued to swell. As far as I know, the graduates will return home after studying in the field of medicine, engineering, computer science and even English. With these qualifications, they should not find any difficulty finding jobs in Saudi Arabia. In fact, there are many companies waiting to employ them. What I hope is that the Ministry of Higher Education sends students on scholarships abroad to study disciplines needed in the job market. The Ministry of Labor and other government departments should leave the returning scholarship students alone and let them enter the job market on their own. I am afraid if they interfere, wasta (connection) will be the main factor in their employment. Then we will find the right person in the wrong job. We might find a heart surgeon managing a health establishment because he found a good connection to give him that job because the salary is higher and the position is better. We might also find people working in jobs that they did not train or qualify for..
