Muhammad Al-Ehaidib Okaz newspaper I CAN'T understand why some people refuse to admit their mistakes, even though such a thing is a virtue. However, we have a problem here. We hear almost all ministries talking about how everything is working just fine and there are no problems. The reality is something else. Citizens keep complaining about these ministries. Low-quality services, red tape and long queues are but a few. Now, what do we believe, the statements of the ministries or the reality? We might accept the statements and believe those who make them, even though the reality is something else. What can we say when we hear statements from a ministry that everything is just perfect, we are the best in the Middle East or the best in the world, while the National Anti-Corruption Commission announces that it has discovered several shortcomings with this very ministry? Who do we believe? The most important question is what the spokesmen take us for and why they say things like that? Citizens know the negative points of each ministry because they suffer from bad services. Besides, the conventional media and social networking sites publish negative reports about erring ministries. Additionally, the monitoring committees that oversee the work of these ministries issue statements and reports pinpointing the negligent practices. Admission of guilt and mistakes and discussion of solutions are the first steps that should be taken to address this situation.
