Spokesperson for the Organization of the Islamic Conference Islamophobia Observation in Jeddah expressed concern over reports of an Anti-Islamization Congress organized by the political group right-wing Pro Koln (For Cologne) scheduled for Sept. 19-20 in Cologne Germany. Spokesman for the OIC said in a statement the projected congress was intended to incite anti-Muslim sentiments in Europe as well as threatening peace in the society. The Pro-Koln is a Cologne-based right-wing political group, which is trying to block the construction of Germany's largest mosque in Cologne as well as the ‘Islamification' of Europe. The September meeting will be attended by several European figures known for their contempt of immigrant and Muslim issues. Jean-Marie Le Pen of France who ran for French Presidency in 2002 lost after receiving only 17 percent of the vote. Austria's Heinz-Christian Strache, and Belgium's Filip Dewinter will also be in attendance. German writer and Holocaust survivor, Ralph Giordano said Pro Koln does not promote democracy but incites xenophobia. Giordano has criticized the religion on the pretext of “exhibiting symptoms of a political and militant Islam” threatening “the constitutional state based on fundamental rights,” Deutsche Welle reported on its web site, Friday. Cologne's mayor Elfi Scho-Antwerpes said that the right wing group has been under the observation of Germany's domestic intelligence agency because of anti-immigrant statements, which have been attributed to “violating human dignity.” __
