Juergen Klopp had a successful official debut as coach of Borussia Dortmund when his new team beat fourth-division Rot-Weiss Essen 3-1 on goals from Tamas Hajnal, Florian Kringe and Nelson Valdez. In other matches, Schalke eased past Homburg 3-0, Eintracht Frankfurt won 3-0 at SC Pfullendorf and Energie Cottbus blanked TB Berlin 3
