The head of the Commission for Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice in Tabuk has warned women to be wary of young men who would take advantage of them. Sheikh Suliman Bin Saleem Al-Enzi said many women have asked the Commission for help from men who try to blackmail them. He said these men attempt to establish relationships with the women in order to exploit their weaknesses and use social stigmas against them. “In order to intimidate and control these women, some young men photograph these girls and try and force them to meet their demands otherwise they threaten to publish their pictures on the Internet,” Al-Enzi said. He said many of the women go along with the demands of the men out of fear of being stigmatized by society if their pictures are posted on the Internet. He cited the example of one incident where the Commision in Tabuk apprehended a man who was exploiting a wealthy woman for years. He succeded in seducing her and then started taking money from her, totaling up to SR100,000. He said after the woman reported the exploiter to the Commision they apprehended him and handed him over to police officials. Al-Enzi urged women to be faithful to their religion and to avoid being secluded with men in order to be safe from incidents like these. – Okaz __
