RIYADH – The Ministry of Labor organized an introductory workshop for mega recruitment companies on its new project called the “Ajeer Service,” which it is going to launch soon. The Ajeer Service is meant to curb trading in visas and reduce the number of workers who run away from their sponsors, Abdullah Al-Haqabani, Undersecretary at the Ministry of Labor for Planning and Development, said Saturday. The implementation of the new service will be carried out in conjunction with mega recruitment companies to guarantee its success, he said. The Ajeer Service protects the rights of workers as well as establishments and individual sponsors, said Ahmed Al-Humaidan, the Undersecretary for Labor Affairs. The first stage of the service was launched through the Ministry of Labor's e-system to connect mega companies with the ministry, said Sami Harshan, Director of the Ajeer Service project. The service is part of the ministry's plan to enhance its partnership with the private sector to administer the labor market. The new service follows an opinion poll of mega recruitment companies on the best mechanism to provide labor services. Earlier this year, 13 mega recruitment companies received permission to begin operations. The companies are based throughout the country and the first licensed company is headquartered in Riyadh. – SG/SPA
