FLORIDA — A giant eyeball has washed ashore in Florida — and scientists are baffled as to which sea creature it came from. The eye, described as the size of a softball and blue, was found by a man walking the beach in Pompano Beach, north of Fort Lauderdale, on Wednesday, MirrorOnline reported. Gino Covacci, who discovered the eyeball, told the Sun Sentinel newspaper: “It was very, very fresh. It was still bleeding when I put it in the plastic bag.” He gave it to police who handed the eyeball on to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation, where it is being kept on ice. The Commission shared the photo of the eye on its Facebook page, where fans reckon it belongs to anything from a giant squid to Bigfoot. “The eyeball will be sent to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Research Institute in St. Petersburg for further tests.” — Agencies
