A military jury gave Osama Bin Laden's driver a surprisingly lenient sentence on Thursday, sentencing him to 66 months in jail. The jury found him guilty of providing material support for terrorism, concluding the first US war crimes tribunal since World War Two. Salim Hamdan's sentence of 5 1/2 years fell far short of the 30 years to life that prosecutors wanted. The sentencing makes him eligible for release in just five months. Hamdan earlier on Thursday apologized in his sentencing hearing for any pain his services to Al-Qaeda caused its US victims. “I would like to apologize one more time to all the members and I would like to thank you for what you have done for me,” Hamdan told the panel of six US military officers.
