Abdulrahman Al-Ali Saudi Gazette JEDDAH – Prince Khaled Al-Faisal, Emir of Makkah region and Chairman of the Central Haj Committee, is scheduled to launch several projects worth over SR1 billion at the Jeddah Islamic Port (JIP) on Wednesday during an inspection tour of the port. Prince Khaled will also receive the first batch of pilgrims arriving by sea. He will inspect preparations for receiving pilgrims at the port. Later, Prince Khaled will lay the foundation stone for a major project and launch a number of other projects. During the visit he will watch a presentation on the projects that he will launch in the port, according to Abdulaziz Muhammad Al-Twaijri, President of the Saudi Ports Authority. Large number of pilgrims from a number of African countries, such as Sudan and Egypt, arrive by sea for the annual event. Speaking about the keenness of Prince Khaled to ensure that all the needs of Umrah and Haj pilgrims are provided, Al-Twaijri said the Emir of Makkah had been keen to check on the arrangements made to facilitate the entry of pilgrims who arrive in the Kingdom on ships.
