MOSCOW — Triple Olympic champion Vyacheslav Ekimov has been named new general manager of Pro Tour cycling team Katusha, the Russian outfit said Monday. “Following the purpose of further dynamic development of Russian professional cycling, Vyacheslav Ekimov is appointed to the post of general manager,” Katusha said in a statement. Russian Ekimov, 46, replaces German Hans-Michael Holczer. Ekimov had been sports director at RadioShack in 2010 and 2011. Ekimov has been one of the sport's elite riders, having won his first Olympic title in track team pursuit for the Soviet Union in Seoul in 1988. — Reuters
