Syeda Amtul Saudi Gazette JEDDAH — All those interested in the art of filmmaking can rejoice as The New York Film Academy (NYFA) will host a series of workshops here. Considered as one of the best academies to equip oneself with the filmmaking skills, the NYFA has been granted approval by the Saudi Arabian Ministry of Higher Education. In addition to filmmaking classes, workshops on photography will also be held at the academy. NYFA professor Nick Rivera will be conducting the classes. He will be accompanied by NYFA's Director of General Admissions Tami Alexander who is on his third trip to the Kingdom. “I cannot believe the level of talent I see every time I visit Saudi Arabia,” said Alexander, adding, “We recognize the overwhelming reponse for acting, filmmaking, and photography in Saudi Arabia and we welcome passionate students.” The men's workshop will start on October 13 and the women's on October 16 at the Rose Wood Corniche Hotel here. For both men and women in Riyadh the workshops will be held on October 17 and 18 at Al Faisaliah Hotel. The events in both the cities will start at 7:00 PM. NYFA is preferred to be the school of choice for many aspiring filmmakers, actors, and actresses from the entertainment world – including Steven Spielberg, Martin Scorsese, Robert Downey Jr., Warren Beatty, among others. NYFA offers bachelors' and masters' degree programs in Fine Arts,along with one and two-year conservatory programs.
