MANILA — Ronaldo Valdez told ABS-CBNnews.com that he almost did not accept the role of the older man in the blockbuster hit “The Mistress” as he was busy working on another TV soap (“Ina Kapatid Anak”) at the time. However, the veteran actor got sold on the project when he learned that it would be helmed by Olive Lamasan and read the script. “Mabuti na lang ay tinanggap ko. Ako'y tuwang-tuwa naman na ako ay part nung project na ‘yun. (Good thing I accepted it. I'm very happy that I became part of that project),” Valdez was quoted as saying. Star Cinema's “The Mistress,” headlined by the bankable tandem of Bea Alonzo and John Lloyd Cruz, is reported to have earned P300 million worldwide to date. It is projected to become the highest-grossing Filipino film of all time. — SG
