RIYADH – The Saudi Company for Private Laboratories (Mutabaqah) recently held a workshop in Riyadh and Dammam to acquaint stakeholders with the role of private laboratories and their importance in protecting the consumer. It also discussed the ideal method for collecting samples and the obstacles facing laboratories working with customs checkpoints on the borders and at airports and seaports. The discussions in the workshop focused on ways to improve the potential of the company's laboratories. They also presented a comprehensive review on how to receive samples from the customs checkpoints and overcome obstacles facing private laboratories. The company organized a field tour of Mutabaqah's 11 laboratories, including those handling chemical and bacterial analyses and testing the safety of children's toys, electrical appliances and petroleum products. The officials in charge of the workshop said Mutabaqah owns the latest equipment and advanced technology for testing products and checking if they adhere to Saudi and international standards and specifications. Mutabaqah is a Saudi company specialized in establishing laboratories for testing samples and comparing the test results with existing standards and specifications. It conducts tests on all locally manufactured and imported commodities and products, issues conformity certificates and operates and manages private laboratories throughout the country. Basically, the company aims to protect the consumer from all defects and cheap quality consumer products and commodities according to Saudi or international standards and specifications.
