RIYADH – A spokesman for the Ministry of Education has denied media reports that the ministry was going to introduce a biometric system for recording teachers' attendance at public schools. Mohammad Al-Dekhaini said such a move was never discussed by decision makers at the ministry. The system will be implemented in some departments within the ministry, he explained, and there is no intention to introduce it to public schools. He said the ministry appreciates transparency in discussing educational issues in the media and officials at the ministry monitor all published comments and remarks to achieve optimum levels of performance. He said the Noor system for educational management and the Faris system for administrative and financial activities, along with other systems, help teachers and allow them to obtain professional services to elevate productivity. While stressing that there are no plans to implement the fingerprint system in public schools, Al-Dekhaini said the electronic systems in the ministry are subject to continuous development.
