However its hardware sales continue to decline as the company prepares for the release of Blackberry 10. Worldwide, from June through August, RIM sold 7.4 million smartphones and no more than 130,000 Blackberry Playbook tablets. Investors are pleased with the progress the company is making in sorting through its issues and RIM's shares rose after the revenue announcement.
