The Board of Grievances sentenced two health affairs employees in Al-Jouf to one year in prison for “wasting public money,” Al-Hayat reported on Wednesday. The Board acquitted three others from the same charge. Five employees of the Al-Jouf Directorate of Health Affairs were referred to the Board of Grievances by the the Control and Investigation Board, on charges of wasting public money. The charge was issued after millions of riyals worth of medications were found discarded in the desert near Skaka. Legal consultant Rayyan Mufti said the CIB is allowed to challenge the verdict of the acquitted men. He added the CIB is the organization responsible for invesitagting bribes, forgery and embezzlement. The Board of Grievances is the body concerned with looking into cases filed by the CIB.
