JEDDAH — The body of Mazen Muhammad Nashi Al-Masawi, who was executed in Iraq a month ago, arrived in Jeddah Friday afternoon. The Foreign Ministry had asked the Saudi Embassy in Jordan to make arrangements to repatriate Al-Masawi's remains to the Kingdom. The embassy liaised with the Iraqi Foreign Ministry as well as the Saudi Red Crescent Authority and the International Committee for Red Crescent to finalize the arrangements. Mazen's father said he would wash his son's corpse and perform the funeral prayers prior to his burial Saturday morning. He said after his burial he would receive mourners. The Iraqi authorities executed Mazen on Aug. 28 after he was convicted of joining a terrorist group implicated in bombing a police station. Before he was executed he reiterated his innocence and held those who approved his execution accountable for their actions.
