Ali Al-ShihriThamer Qamqoom Okaz/ Saudi Gazette ARAR – Another Saudi citizen has been sentenced to death in Iraq. Ali Bin Hassan Ali Fadhl Al-Shihri, 33, was found guilty of illegally crossing into Iraq by a Baghdad court on Tuesday. Before his trial Al-Shihri was held in different prisons, including Abu Ghraib, Kobr, Rasfat and Al-Tagi prisons. He was identified as a Saudi national only a few days before the trial began. As per the Iraqi judicial system, a death sentence will be carried out within 20 days of the verdict, official sources said. Zaina Al-Shihri, Ali's mother, said her son was brainwashed and his tragedy affected her physically and psychologically. His younger brother Sami appealed to the concerned authorities to intervene in the case before the sentence is carried out. Four other Saudis have been sentenced to death in Iraq and are awaiting execution, according to sources. They include Azam Al-Qahtani who is held at Al-Hemaya Al-Qosswa Prison in Baghdad, Faisal Bin Abdullah Al-Faraj held at Al-Rasafat Prison, Shad Muslam Al-Sa'edi held at Al-Rasaft Prison, and Badr Ofan Al-Shimiri held at Al-Rasafa Prison. A number of other Saudis are being held in various Iraqi prisons on charges ranging from terrorism to infiltration.
