TRIPOLI – A truck carrying weapons, ammunition and rocket-propelled grenades was intercepted at Bayda Sunday. The truck is understood to have been traveling from Derna to Benghazi, when it was stopped and seized in the Mohamed Hamri area. The truck was captured by members of a battalion known as the Martyrs of Mistrata, although their origins are unclear. This weekend Benghazi has been the scene of a huge demonstration billed as Save Benghazi Friday, which saw at least 30,000 protesters demanding an end to militia-rule in Libya. The protest forced members of Ansar Al-Shariah to leave both their headquarters in Nasr Square and Al-Jalaa hospital where they have been operating as guards. They have since been reported to be pulling out of Derna. – Libya Herald
