INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana – IndyCar will not race at Edmonton next season, series officials announced, after the event promoter pulled out of plans to stage a 2013 race. Edmonton's 2.2-mile, 13-turn course hosted the 11th of 15 races on this year's IndyCar schedule with Brazil's Helio Castroneves taking the victory last July and Japan's Takuma Sato enjoying an IndyCar career-best runner-up finish. IndyCar chief executive Randy Bernard said the loss of the Canadian race has not affected plans to stage at least 19 races in 2013 and that IndyCar is optimistic of having two Canadian races by 2014.
