JEDDAH – High-ranking decision makers in the GCC transport sector participated in the first Arab-German Majlis on transport recently, during the world's largest transport technology trade fair “InnoTrans 2012” in Berlin. AHK Saudi Arabia jointly organized the InnoTrans Majlis with its partners AHK UAE, the Ghorfa Arab-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Messe Berlin in the Marshall House at the fair. Following the spirit of the traditional Arab Majlis, Arab and German businessmen sat together and got to know each other, in order to build sustainable business partnerships. Experts in the transport sector presented state-of-the- art technologies and the Arab businessmen discussed the specific needs of the Arab states. High ranking representatives of economy and politics such as Jan Mücke, Parliamentary State Secretary of the German Federal Ministry of Transport, Building & Urban Development, and Dr. Bashar K. AlMalik, Projects Director Saudi Railway Company, as well as his counterparts from Qatar and the UAE like Mattar Mohammed Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board and Executive Director, Roads & Transport Authority RTA from Dubai; Khalid Mohammed Hashim, Executive Director - Surface Transport Sector, Department of Transport from Abu Dhabi; and Abdulla Abdulaziz Turki Al Subaie, Managing Director of Qatar Rail and Group CEO of Barwa Real Estate Qatar Rail Company discussed the huge projects the Gulf countries are planning. – SG
