JOHANNESBURG — Ghanaian club Berekum Chelsea has denied a report that it was offered money to lose in the final round of group games in the African Champions League. In a statement Monday, Berekum chief executive Nana Kwame Nketiah said there was no meeting with officials of Congo's T.P. Mazembe, who allegedly wanted Berekum to throw Sunday's Group B game in Ghana to give Mazembe an easier semifinal. Nketiah threatened legal action and said the report in Tunisia was “utterly false.” Berekum won 1-0 to leave Mazembe with a semifinal against defending champion Esperance of Tunisia. — AP
