Syeda Amtul Saudi Gazette JEDDAH — A poetry gathering was organized by Indian community organizations to honor poets who took part in the annual all-India Mushaira held in Jeddah under the auspices of the Consulate General recently. Organizations that participated included among others Jeddah Bazm-e-Shagofa, Urdu Gulban, Khake-Taiba Trust, Urdu Academy, Bazme-Itehad and the JeddahIndian Organization. Well-known social worker Aleem Khan Falaki, the host and organizer of the evening, welcomed the poets. Prominent poets who graced the evening included Nasir Burney, Sardar Asar, Masroor Abdi, Mehshar Afridi, Nawaz Dewbandi, Naeem Bazedpori and Aslam Farshori. Mehtab Qadir presented his best work, while Falaki expressed his thoughts in his clever couplets. Sardar Asar's humorous verses received plaudits. Masroor Abdi from Hyderabad, who is known for his magic with words, mesmerized the audience. Mehshar Afridi and Aslam Farshori were also well-received. At the conclusion of the event, gifts were distributed to the poets and Falaki delivered a vote of thanks.
