LONDON — British police Thursday arrested a serving member of the armed forces and his wife as part of an investigation into possible corruption among the press, police and public officials. The bribery investigation is running alongside probes into phone hacking and computer hacking sparked by revelations that reporters at Rupert Murdoch's now-shuttered News of the World tabloid routinely intercepted voice mails of those in the public eye. Police said the arrests early Thursday were the result of information passed on to police by a committee at Murdoch's News Corp. created to get to the bottom of the criminality at his British newspaper subsidiary, News International. Scotland Yard said that a 32-year-old woman and her 42-year-old husband, a serving member of the armed forces, were arrested at two separate addresses in the southern England county of Surrey and are being questioned at a local police station. — AP
