A Saudi woman of Indonesian origin is seen everyday in the crowd of overstayers under the Sitteen street bridge selling tea and Indonesian food. Reema Hameed Sanaf's husband was handicapped after he was attacked by sharks in a marine accident. Sanaf said she was forced to work under the bridge selling food to overstayers because her husband was not able to work. She said she preferred to work than to beg. The hundreds of Umrah overstayers are requesting deportation back to the their home countries after some have stated they received little help from their embassies. Ameer Al-Islam and Siddiq Miyah from Bangladesh said they depend on charity for their daily needs. Rasheed Ahmad from India suffered a compound fracture in his legs, in an accident after performing Umrah. He underwent three surgeries and had metal rods fitted in his legs for support. He said his condition was deteriorating because he did not have food and shelter to properly recuperate. Residents of the area surrounding the bridge have asked authorities to deport the overstayers as soon as possible before the situation gets worse. – Okaz __
