Annika Sorenstam completed her last major championship with a 10-foot birdie putt for a 4-under 68 at the Women's British Open on Sunday although she was well out of contention for the title. The 37-year-old Swede, who will leave golf at the end of this year to pursue business interests and start a family, had her best round of the week as she hit every green on the 6,408-yard Old Course at Sunningdale. She finished 6-under 282, eight shots behind the leader, Yuri Fudoh, who had just birdied the first hole. A huge roar greeted her second shot to 10 feet at the last hole and she rolled in the putt to tumultuous applause from a large crowd in stands and all around the final green. Earlier her round included an eagle 3 at the 503-yard 14th, the longest hole on the course, where she holed a 40-putt from just off the green. “I'm going to miss it, no doubt about it,” said Sorenstam, who has won 10 majors in her 14-year career, including this one in 2003 at Royal Lytham. “To finish with a birdie was special. There didn't seem to be any doubt it was going in.”
