Subtle energy has been with us
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 10 - 09 - 2012

Khadijah Bawazeer

Subtle energy is real but hard to explain because it is not perceived directly by the senses and is detected only by using electromagnetic field, which is one of the four fundamental forces of nature; the other three are gravitation, weak interaction and strong interaction.
Although subtle energy is not popularly known it has been with us.
Homeopathy, for example, is a subtle-energy medicine. This kind of alternative medicine is based on the idea that a substance that causes the symptoms of a disease in healthy people will cure that disease in sick people. Sadly, this kind of alternative medicine is often ridiculed.
This kind of of alternative medicine is based on the axiom known as “the law of similars” or “like cures like”. But some critics would say: how can a number of small similar-looking pellets change physical or psychological conditions? And yet, people who have tried homeopathy believe in it because they have experienced its healing effect.
I am not against questioning or seeking verification because this indicates an inquisitive mind. The problem is not in questioning — which is actually a healthy attitude because this can lead to clearer understanding — but in deciding not to understand in the first place. When we decide to dismiss ideas even before we try to understand them knowledge stops.
In the case of subtle energy, no matter how we feel about it, we cannot deny that humans have been using it for decades. We have been using computers, phones, radios and televisions for a long time. All of these involve transferring of subtle energy signals, waves and vibrations that we cannot see, hear or taste. They are forms of energy or power that we cannot verify through our senses.
Just like subtle energy itself, the channels through which it travels are illusive.
The human body hosts twelve pathways through which the energy force flows.
These channels are known as “meridians”. These meridians, like blood vessels, are dispersed throughout the body but, instead of matter, they transport energy and clear congestion. Their function, although not yet well understood, is important because we get sick when energy does not flow.
The human body acquires energy mainly in two ways. There is the inherited energy which we receive from our parents at the time of conception, and there is the acquired energy which is accumulated by the quality of life we choose to lead, the food we eat and the air we breathe. Individuals become ill when they cannot absorb enough primary energy or when its circulation in the body is blocked.
Old Arabic medicine explains sickness as blockage, so does the Chinese and Indian. Homeopathic medicine which is safe, inexpensive and easy to take, works by clearing congestion on the principle that “like cures like”.It is a kind of medication that can threat ailments in the body without harming it. Germany, Britain and India are countries that acknowledge homeopathy and rely on it a lot. In fact, the Royal English family relies heavily on homeopathy.
