Muhammad Saleh Al-Shihri, Assistant Director General of Public Security for Planning and Development, on Sunday confirmed plans to merge all Public Security operations rooms, including the Traffic Department, security patrols and Civil Defense, into a consolidated control room. The new control room will be supported with TV surveillance, digital maps and the latest systems for receiving and distributing telephone calls and systems for tracking vehicles, he said. These will upgrade the standard of services provided. Maj. Gen. Al-Shihri was speaking at a press conference held here to announce the inauguration of the second forum on Total Quality in Public Security by Prince Muhammad Bin Naif, Assistant Minister of Interior for Security Affairs, Monday. The theme of the forum is “Quality in security is a duty and creativity". It is being hosted by the security patrols administration in Jeddah governorate at the King Faisal Conferences Center at King Abdulaziz University. Col. Saad Al-Ghamdi, Director of Security Patrols Administration in Jeddah and supervisor for organizing the forum, and Dr. Ayidh Al-Amri, Chairman of the Saudi Quality Council in the Western Region and chairman of the organizing committee for the forum, were also present at the press conference. More than 1,500 specialists and researchers from the public and private sectors in the field of security applications, management and methods of work from within the Kingdom and abroad will participate in the forum, apart from 30 speakers who will present studies, research, applications and model experiments in this field. Maj. Gen. Al-Shihri said the forum aims to benefit from the best practices and modern technology in security fieldwork and management in the Public Security sectors and related security administrations after studying the current situation and requirements. He commended the relentless support of Prince Muhammad Bin Naif for the security and stability of the nation and its citizens.
