Firefighters from Dammam, Al-Khobar and Qatif worked in unison to put out a large fire at the Dammam seaport. The fire destryed three warehouses on Thursday. Firefighters were attempting to prevent the fire from spreading to a nearby gas station. Civil Defense officials estimated the damage to be several million riyals. An investigative team is attempting to determine the cause of the fire. The Eastern Province has had several fires recently. Last month, three fires caused large swaths of damage and several deaths. A fire in Al-Khobar destroyed 60 shops, two fires in Dammam destroyed three residential buildings and two paper factories. An eight-member Saudi family and a three-member Indian family died in the Dammam fire last month. Authorities are urging citizens to be more careful when the temperatures are high and the wind is strong. Both contribute to the spread of large fires. __
