THE OIC Secretary General Prof. Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu received yesterday in Istanbul Mr. Kamil Ishkhakov, former Mayor of Kazan whom Russian President Dmitri Medvedev decided to appoint as Russia's Permanent Observer to the OIC in order to further and strengthen its ties with the OIC and the Muslim World. During the meeting, the OIC Secretary General expressed his happiness over the continuous progress of the relations between the OIC and the Russian Federation since the latter became the observer to the Organization in 2005. Mr. Ishkhakov visited the OIC Headquarters in Jeddah on August 3, 2008 and was received by Assistant Secretary General of OIC Ambassador Tori Limangana. They has exchange of views on the ways and means of enhancing cooperation and coordination between the OIC and Russian Federation __
