Next month LG's 84-inch LM9600 should be making its first appearance. The TV will have a resolution of 3,840×2,160 pixels, which is four times the number of pixels in 1080p HD TVs (1,920×1,080) or 8 million pixels per frame. LG calls the resolution “UD" for “ultra-definition." The TV has a customizable 3D feature that allows viewers to set the depth of field and Internet “smart TV" connectivity. Unfortunately, there's no content yet for the 84-inch screen. It's expected to retail for $22,100 and there's no sane reason to get one.
