Faisal, Emir of Makkah, is scheduled to wash the Holy Ka'bah today on behalf of King Abdullah, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques. Scholars, members of the diplomatic corps, as well as keepers (sadanah) of the Holy Ka'bah will also take part in the washing ceremony. The washing of the Ka'bah is a tradition started by Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), to purify the Ka'bah from idolatry, after he conquered Makkah. The Ka'bah is washed twice a year in Sha'ban and Dhul Hijja. The Ka'bah Kiswah (black covering of the Ka'bah) is washed with Zamzam water, rose and musk perfume which are presented by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques. – Okaz __
