Investigation starts into recent power cuts

Recent power cuts have prompted an investigation into the Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) by the Commission for Organizing Power Production.
The power cuts in June left parts of Riyadh, Al-Qassim and the Eastern Province without power.
A source in the Commission said the electricity regulation allows subscribers to claim compensation for losses suffered during of power cuts.
The SEC said the power cuts were caused by a technical fault in the network.
In a statement Saleh Bin Muhammad Al-Onaizan, Executive President of the SEC apologized for the inconveniences caused by the power cuts, emphasizing that the cuts were unintentional.
