Recent power cuts have prompted an investigation into the Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) by the Commission for Organizing Power Production. The power cuts in June left parts of Riyadh, Al-Qassim and the Eastern Province without power. A source in the Commission said the electricity regulation allows subscribers to claim compensation for losses suffered during of power cuts. The SEC said the power cuts were caused by a technical fault in the network. In a statement Saleh Bin Muhammad Al-Onaizan, Executive President of the SEC apologized for the inconveniences caused by the power cuts, emphasizing that the cuts were unintentional.
