Muhammad Al-Zahrani Okaz/Saudi Gazette TAIF – 25,000 male and female private school teachers might have their employment contracts terminated if they fail to pass the teacher's test administered by the National Center for Assessment in Higher Education. Sources said the mandatory test will result in the termination of 25,000 teachers as 85 percent of current male and female teachers at private schools do not possess the required academic qualifications to teach. Many of them have allegedly failed the test offered by the center. The Ministry of Education has given unqualified teachers a grace period until the end of this year to pass the test. If they are unable to do so, their contracts will be terminated. Meanwhile, 30,000 teachers are expected to sign a unified employment contract this year. The unified employment contract stipulates that the salaries of male and female teachers in the private sector should be raised to SR5,600, SR2,500 of which will be paid by the Human Resources Development Fund. The regulations require schools to pay the salaries of teachers during the summer vacation by depositing them directly in their bank accounts. Schools are also required to provide teachers with healthcare services and register their names with the General Organization of Social Insurance.
