FORD Middle East is announcing a service campaign for certain 2001 through 2004 model year Ford Escape vehicles equipped with a 3.0L engine and speed control. In some of these vehicles, there may be inadequate clearance between the engine cover and the speed control cable, which could allow the throttle to stick when the accelerator pedal is fully or almost-fully depressed, increasing the risk of an accident. About 60 vehicles are estimated to be affected in Saudi Arabia. Al Jazirah Vehicles Agencies Co. will modify the engine cover on all affected vehicles as soon as the necessary part is made available. As an interim measure, the speed control cable will be disconnected and secured away from the throttle linkage. The modifications will be made free of charge and every effort will be made to minimize any inconvenience caused during the short time required for the work to be carried out. "We at Ford are determined to maintain the quality and integrity of our products, and as always, the safety and satisfaction of our customers is our top priority," said John McEachern, Ford Middle East's Country manager for Saudi Arabia. "Our dealers will contact owners to arrange for these repairs as soon as the parts are available. In the mean time, we ask our customers that currently own a 2001-2004 Ford Escape equipped with a 3.0L engine and speed control to contact their nearest Al Jazirah Vehicles Agencies branch." – SG
