Zamil Industrial provides training to Saudi students
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 09 - 08 - 2012

DAMMAM – Zamil Industrial Investment Company (Zamil Industrial), announced recently that the training programs for secondary school, college and university students that kicked off last June were divided into two categories – those designed for secondary school students and others intended for college and university students from various regions of the Kingdom.
The Director of Zamil Higher Institute for Industrial Training Mohamed Abdulla Sharif said the annual training program is part of the company's dedication to serving the community.
This year, the company provided on-the-job training opportunities for 40 university and technical college students in Dammam. The trainees worked in production, engineering, sales and marketing, information technology and finance departments at Zamil Steel and Zamil Air Conditioners. Students from King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals, Dammam University, King Abdulaziz University, Prince Mohamed Bin Fahd University in Al-Khobar, Al-Baha University, Dammam College of Technology and Technical Trainers College in Riyadh participated in the programs.
The training programs range in length from two months for the summer training students to seven months for the cooperative university students.
The Training Institute coordinated with various Zamil Industrial businesses to arrange appropriate project assignments in advance, and provided complete guidance and support for the trainees throughout their experiences.
The programs provided ample opportunities for vital skills improvement, including: communication skills, creative thinking and problem solving, planning, time management, analytical and team work.
Students were given opportunities to develop a positive work ethic, learn new skills in their specialized fields of study, and to interact with multinational professional employees of the company while gaining confidence in dealing with various work-related situations.
Each university student receives an SR2,000 per month stipend, while college students are given SR1,000 per month as an incentive to active participation in the training program.
The Institute also coordinated with a national institute to train 40 male and 20 female secondary school students during their summer holidays. The training program for these students consisted of an intensive English language communications skills module and an information technology module including Microsoft Office. – SG
