Okaz/Saudi Gazette RIYADH — Samirah Al-Ghamdi, the wife of a Saudi man who was killed when his car fell off a bridge, said members of the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice (Hai') were involved in the crash that lead to her husband's death and expressed her hopes in the integrity of the fact-finding committee set to investigate the death of her husband. Samirah, who is pregnant, lost her husband, Abdulrahman Ahmad Al-Ghamdi, 34, when the Hai'a engaged the couple and their two children in a high speed car chase until their car fell off a bridge. The Hai'a had allegedly become involved in an argument with Abdulrahman after they complained about the volume of his car's stereo. The couple's two children were seriously in the crash and Samirah's right hand was amputated. Samirah said she hopes that the committee won't blame the poor condition of the road they were on for the accident. “I directly hold accountable the police and Hai'a patrols for the incident which killed my husband,” she said. Commenting on a statement made by Abdullatif Aal Al-Sheikh, Hai'a President, in which he claimed that police officers were “equally involved in the chase”, Samirah asked why police took part in the chase even though her husband had not committed a crime. “Even if the police took part in the chase at the request of the Hai'a, this chase caused the death of our breadwinner.” ? A doctor at King Abdul Aziz Medical City in Riyadh said the victim's son, Khaled, and his daughter, Dorar, had left the hospital in good health and their mother will be referred to Prince Sultan Hospital to complete procedures for the attachment of a prosthetic arm.
