LONDON — Organizers of the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Summer Games plan to keep disgraced former FIFA president Joao Havelange's name on their main stadium. Rio organizing committee chief executive Leo Gryner said Havelange is a “historical icon” of Brazilian sport, and he is proud to be associated with him. The Joao Havelange Olympic Stadium will host athletics at the 2016 Summer Games. Swiss court documents published last month showed Havelange in the 1990s received millions of dollars in a World Cup kickbacks scandal. Havelange paid a Swiss court about $550,000 to end a criminal investigation into alleged embezzlement. — AP
