Jay R. Gotera Saudi Gazette MANILA — James Yap scored on a difficult turnaround fall-away jumper with 15.6 seconds left providing the B-Meg Llamados enough cushion to pull off a bruising 85-80 win against the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters Wednesday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Game 2 of the 2012 PBA Governors' Cup Finals. The victory leveled the best-of-7 championship at one game apiece ahead of Friday night's Game 3. Yap finished with 24 points and nine rebounds. He got ample support from their import Marqus Blakely who topscored with 26 points and 16 rebounds. Control of the board proved to be the key to the Llamados' victory as they grabbed 19 more rebounds than their rivals, 58-39. Rain or Shine suffered a double whammy after star rookie Paul Lee was wheeled out of the coliseum on stretcher after apparently dislocating his shoulder on a steal attempt. The injury came after Lee came in second in the Best Player of the Conference race during the awarding ceremony before the match. The award was won by Mark Caguioa of the Barangay Ginebra Kings. It was his second straight Best Player of the Conference award. The Best Import of the Conference award went to Jamelle Cornely also of Rain or Shine. After being down 21-26 at the end of the first quarter, the Llamados ignited their afterburners to zoom ahead. At the start of the fourth quarter, B-Meg extended its five-point lead to 68-60. This fired up the Painters as they tied the game 74-all with 5:25 left. The Llamados gained the lead anew, 79-74, on baskets by Peter June Simon and Yap, 2:42 left. Simon extended B-Meg's edge to six points on a split charity, but the Painters once again threatened at 80-78 with 30 seconds left, but failed to fill the gap.
