Saudi Gazette report RIYADH — Millions of riyals continue to be collected by the national fundraising campaign for the Syrian people launched late Monday. The campaign was launched by King Abdullah, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, who donated SR20 million to the fund while Crown Prince Salman Bin Abdul Aziz, Deputy Premier and Minister of Defense, gave SR10 million. At the time of going to the press Wednesday, the campaign has raised more than SR162 million, in addition to quantities of foodstuffs, medicines, clothes, tents, blankets and jewelry. Alwaleed Bin Talal Foundation — Global has announced a SR15 million donation to the Syrian people affected by the grave situation there. Saudi philanthropists and businessmen in different parts of the Kingdom responded favorably to the campaign by extending generous donations in cash. Mubarak Bin Said Al-Bakr, Executive Director of the campaign, hailed the positive response from princes, officials, businessmen, citizens and expatriates to aid their needy brothers in Syria.
